Alpe d’Huez
This ski resort is located in the central part of the French Alps which is linked to villages amongst the mountains the likes of La Garde and Villard Reculas. There are a total of 100 runs to experience whilst you ski with a useful 81 lifts available making it very easy to make your way around the ski resort. If you’re looking for a thrilling experience then you could attempt the world’s largest on-piste vertical which takes around an hour and a half to complete certainly not one for the beginners.
Getting there
In terms of getting to the resort it’s not as hard as it seems, If you’re arriving at Grenoble airport you’re 40 minutes away from the ski resort. Once you’ve arrived at the airport you can get a shuttle bus which run regularly with Bens bus being one of them costing £48.50 for a return with children under 12 receiving 10% discount and do remember to book before 24 hours of your transfer or you get a £5 booking fee.
Where to eat
Planning on where to eat here is pretty hard as they’re plenty of places to pick from and an excellent place to would be Signal 2108 which offers French cuisines and they offer a fantastic service even have drying facilities available making you feel nice a cosy whilst you tuck into some scrumptious French food. It’s located on the top of one of the ski lifts which are easily accessible and they have outdoor seating which offers incredible views of the mountains and is certainly place where you’ll snap some incredible photos. If you’re not up for French food then why not go to Smithys Tavern which offer English and Mexican dishes with American size portions so it’s really good value. From your traditional tasty Nachos to mouth-watering burgers served with chips and by visiting Smithys Bar you certainly won’t forget your experience as they offer excellent customer service not to forget their late night live music featuring great DJ’S.
Accommodation
For accommodation I highly recommend the ClubHotel Beausoleil which is very well located as you can literally get a lift from the hotel door itself and 300km away there are plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes which comes in handy. The hotel offer something called a club board basis which includes breakfast every morning and on 6 out of the 7 nights offered dinner and the hotel itself is very well looked after with excellent well trained staff.
