Las Vegas is a big kid’s playground and is home to some of the best fairground attractions and roller coaster rides in the world, so let’s take a look at some of the scariest rides and attractions to get your heart rate going. From zip wiring between the two Rio Towers, to being scared out of your skin by ghouls and ghosts, read on if you dare…

Roller Coaster at New York-New York

The Roller Coaster at New York-New York is one of the most iconic rides in Las Vegas and can be spotted a mile away. Looping, winding, twisting, and turning at up to 67 miles per hour, this roller coaster ride is one of the most nail-biting of them all – you rarely spend any time upright! You’ll be going up against impressive G-Forces and barrel rolling 180 degrees at dizzying speeds, not to mention drops of 144 feet! It’s one of the most recognizable rides in the Las Vegas landscape, so make sure you pay a visit.

Desperado Roller Coaster

The Desperado Roller Coaster isn’t just any roller coaster, it’s classified as a hypercoaster! It once held the title of the tallest coaster in the world, up to 1996. Although it has been passed, it’s still absolutely terrifying. With speeds of up to 80mph and a G-force of up to 4 Gs, you’ll drop 225 feet and rise 206 feet on this stomach-churning ride. You might recognize the roller coaster from the death-defying stunt Lance Burton staged in 1999, when he cuffed himself to the track in a challenge to release himself before the coaster completed the ride… Thankfully he escaped unharmed and lived to tell the tale!

Fright Dome

For a different kind of fear, Fright Dome in Las Vegas will definitely get your heart rate going. Inside the Adventuredome at Circus Circus you’ll be taken on a trip into the darkness, and experience bone-chilling supernatural frights. With six haunted houses to explore, four scare zones and horrifying 4-D movies, this is one for the truly brave. It’s the stuff of nightmares and promises all manner of frightening freak show sights from gory to gruesome.

Sin City Scare Fair

If you’re visiting Las Vegas in October, make sure you spook yourself silly at the Sin City Scare Fair, which runs the whole month of October in honor of Halloween. With some great guests such as Travis Love from The Walking Dead, and Naomi Grossman who played Pepper in American Horror Story, they’ll bring the experience to life. Explore the Haunted Houses, relive your fears and recurring nightmares, and anyone with coulrophobia, watch out. The interactive experiences will bring your fears to new heights and you can even go on a simulator ride into a funeral parlor and be buried alive…

SkyJump Las Vegas

Dare to climb new heights – and then throw yourself off them! SkyJump Las Vegas will test even the bravest as you strap yourself in and prepare to take the plunge from the launch platform on the 108th floor. The Stratosphere Tower is the tallest building in Las Vegas and its new thrill-seeker attraction measures 829 ft, making it the world’s highest sky jump. Unlike bungee jumping, there’s no rope, so you won’t suffer the jolt upwards – just the terrifying drop! Your descent will instead be controlled by the descender machine and special guide wires to keep you on course and safe. Note: don’t even bother if you suffer from vertigo!

Vegas Indoor Skydiving

If you do suffer from a fear of heights, Vegas Indoor Skydiving could be the answer. Experience the same thrills of freefalling and defying gravity with this incredible skydiving simulator. Inside, you’ll be zipped into a suit and propelled 10 feet in the air by a fan generating winds of up to 120 miles an hour! Practice your ‘tuck and roll’ landings, learn how to fly and just enjoy the experience of whooshing through the air. Forget the scare-factor of falling out of a plane, in this padded room with safety net you’ve got all the fun, without the fear!

VooDoo Zip Line

Speed between the two Rio Towers in Las Vegas at 800ft above ground, strapped to a zip wire. Sound crazy? Well, it is! The VooDoo Zip Line one of the most popular – and most terrifying – Vegas attractions and you’ll be hard pushed to experience anything like it again. It’s great for those looking for an adrenaline hit and a totally unique way to take in the sights of the surrounding Nevada landscape as you profit from unparalleled 360 degree views over Vegas! There’s room for two people, so pick a partner for moral support and buckle up… If you need some Dutch courage beforehand, or a stiff drink afterward, there’s a VooDoo rooftop bar to take the edge off your nerves!

Vegas is a fun fairground full of wacky entertainment, terrifying rides and scary attractions to visit. It’s a great city for those who like to face their fears, challenge their phobias and test their courage! From barrel rolling on the New York-New York Roller Coaster to being chased by clowns, flying between two of the tallest buildings in Vegas, or entering a real-life horror story – take your pick and enjoy Vegas to the extreme!
