Tips for Packing Light

A lot of the time, travelers find it hard to figure out what they need to bring and what they should leave home. It’s often difficult to keep your suitcase under the weight limit because we pack too many clothes or shoes, and then at the end of our trip we realize we didn’t wear half of the things we bought. Hopefully these tips for packing light will help you to prepare for your next trip!

Don’t pack items you wouldn’t normally use at home. A lot of the time travelers, especially first-timers, make the mistake of thinking they are going to need everything in their house and more while abroad. If you don’t need it at home, you probably don’t need to bring it with you on your trip. Go through your morning routine and only pack the things you’d normally use every day.

Go mini. Pack travel-sized items, such as toothpaste, hairdryers and things like that. This will save space in your suitcase for things you definitely need and can’t buy in miniature size.

Roll items. Instead of folding your clothes, roll them, especially the big and bulky items. This will help you to save space, plus it helps prevent wrinkly clothes!

Keep in mind you can buy things once you get there. You should remember that it’s only another country, not another planet. They will have useful, everyday items that you need just like at home. You might find the perfect face lotion or shampoo in a brand that is too expensive in the U.S., too!

Make a list and stick to it. This list will ensure that you cut down items and also remember the important ones.

Mix and match outfits. It’s okay to wear the same pair of pants more than once! If you bring a completely different outfit for each day and night, you’ll never have enough room for everything. You can wear a different top with the same pair of pants, or vice versa. It’s also always possible to wash your clothes while on a trip.
