10. Woodfield Mall

Schaumburg, Illinois

Found in a suburb near Chicago, Woodfield is the largest shopping mall in the state of Illinois and attracts more than 27 million visitors each year! The mall features almost 300 stores and is anchored by JCPenney, Lord & Taylor, Macy’s, Nordstrom, and the country’s largest Sears store.

9. Roosevelt Field

East Garden City, New York 

This is the second-largest shopping mall in the state of New York, with 270 stores anchored by Bloomingdale’s, JCPenney, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Neiman Marcus. Roosevelt Field mall also has a unique backstory as it was previously used as an airfield that was the takeoff site of many famous aviators including Amelia Earhart and Wiley Post. It wasn’t until 1955 that ground was broke to build shops that first housed Walgreen Drug, a movie theatre, outdoor ice rink, and many other stores.

Houston, Texas

Sunrise, Florida

Sawgrass Mills is the largest single story mall in the U.S. with over 300 retail outlets, name brand discounters, and anchors including Sakes off 5th and Super Target. Torrance, California 

If luxury shopping is your thing, then consider this your palace. Del Amo Fashion Center is a three-level mall with more than 200 retailers, multiple upscale restaurants, a fitness center and a movie theatre. This mall was at one time labeled the largest mall in America before Mall of America stole its title in 1992. You can also find this mall as the backdrop in films such as Valley Girl (1983) and Bad Santa (2003).

It may not come to much surprise that Mall of America tops our list at number one. The largest mall in the U.S. covers 4.87 million square feet (enough to fit seven Yankee Stadiums inside), sees over 40 million visitors annually and is dubbed the best mall in America for many reasons besides its size. At Mall of America, you’ll find more than 520 shops, mini-golf, aquarium, Nickelodeon Universe, LEGOland, American Girl Doll store, two food courts, Hooters, Dick’s Last Resort, bowling alley, a wedding chapel, movie theatre…I think you get the idea–Mall of America has it all. You don’t have to love shopping to love this place.
