10 Helpful Travel Tips

Traveling can be a ton of fun, but it can also be stressful at times. Be sure to take a look at these 10 travel tips before your next trip!

1. Make photocopies of your passport.

And leave one copy with friends and another tucked into your bag. You can also scan your passport and email a copy to yourself, so you’ll never worry about losing it.

2. Never sleep in while traveling!

Sleeping in while traveling is only acceptable if there is absolutely NOTHING better to do. In other words, it’s never acceptable. You’ll be missing out on learning and experiencing new things. There should never be a dull moment while traveling, no matter you are.

3. Always check the weather forecast.

You don’t want to be that guy wearing sandals with no jacket when it’s chilly out. You should also always bring an umbrella with you, just in case.

4. Travel with a first aid kit.

You never know if someone you’re with will get sick or hurt, so it’s better to be safe than sorry. Your kit should include the following: ibuprofen (or any type of pain killer), bandages, alcohol wipes, hydrocortizone cream, decongestant, NyQuil, and anything else you can think of.

5. Don’t forget your camera charger.

(Or your camera.) You will use up your battery fast, taking pictures of everything and everyone, and making memories. You will definitely need to charge it many times throughout your trip, especially with friends/family flipping through all of the pictures at the end of the day to relive all of the events that happened.

6. The second you think of something you need to pack, pack it.

If you wait, you will forget. And then you’ll be angry at yourself for not packing it right away. The good thing is most things you forget, you can always buy when you arrive at your destination. But it’s always better to just pack everything you need!

7. Notify your bank.

Call your credit card company before you leave and put a travel alert on your card. You should also take down their international customer service number because you really never know what can happen.

8. Save space when packing!

Stuffing socks into your shoes can help you save space and ensure your shoes stay in their shape.

9. Don’t waste time with technology.

Sure, if you want to use your smart phone to take pictures, that’s fine. But don’t waste your trip trying to get wifi to text your friends or go on social media. There’s plenty of time for that when you get back home.

10. Relax.

Last but not least, relax! Enjoy yourself on your trip. Don’t stress about work, school, or any types of deadlines that are waiting for you back home. Traveling is supposed to be fun. So, be carefree, have a good time, and don’t worry!
