Breaking your day-to-day routine in order to go on vacation can be difficult. Maintaining parts of the day-to-day routine while on vacation sometimes seems impossible. It always seems that the first thing that magically falls off the to-do list the second we travel is daily exercise. I didn’t have room for my sneakers in my luggage. The gym at this hotel smells weird. I can go a few days without exercising…
Unless you are on a trip that has exercise built in, such as swimming or hiking, here are a couple ideas that will help you maintain your daily work-out quota without putting a damper on your vacation. Let’s all stay fit on vacation!
1. Make it a group activity.
One of the most difficult part of exercising on vacation is the process of ditching your group for an hour or so. So, bring the group with you! Take a yoga class or play beach volleyball. Team sports are a great way to get your heart rate up and if you stick together, you won’t have to worry about missing any fun memories while you’re on the treadmill.
2. Put time aside on your itinerary.
If you’re someone who likes to schedule your days, just add an hour into the schedule for exercise or free time. If everyone is on the same page and the time is already set aside, then it won’t be as difficult to keep your exercise promise to yourself.
