Backpackers’ Secrets To Doing Laundry On The Road

Going on a road trip can be very fun and exciting. Less exciting is when you start to think about how to handle dirty laundry. While you are relaxing, the last of your worries should be tedious cleaning and washing issues but you will eventually have to deal with them.

It can be very uncomfortable for you to find a place where you can take care of your dirty clothes, especially when you are on the road most of the time. Here are some simple techniques for taking care of dirty laundry while you are on a road trip.

How to do laundry while you travel

Pack light and smart

If you think that doing the laundry at home is tedious, just wait until you have to do it while travelling. To avoid the major complications, pack light. By packing smart, you limit the number of times you will need to wash your clothes.

Use a ziplock bag

Make sure you have large ziplock bags. They are not expensive and are useful for storing dirty clothes as well as during the laundry process. Fill one with hot water, put a few drops of liquid soap and soak your dirty clothes for a while. Wash the clothes and rinse and… done! Clean Tees and undies on the go!

Wash your clothes in the sink

One of the easiest ways to do laundry while on the road, you can use the bathroom sink where you stay and hang your clothes to dry. If you don’t have enough space for drying them, you have ziplock bags (yay!) where you can keep them until you find a more suitable space.

Find coin-operated laundromats

You can find those machines in pretty much every major city in the world. Some guesthouses and hostels also have them which will make things even easier for you. The laundromats are easy to use and convenient for any traveler on the go.

Doing your laundry on a road trip can be a challenge, sometimes. You don’t have to worry, though, because there is always a way to take care of your things. Should you have friends in cities you are visiting, you should definitely stop by their place and wash some clothes while you chat. Otherwise, we can only hope these travel tips will be useful to you. How do you take care of dirty while you travel?
