5 Family-Friendly Spring Break Ideas To Try Today

When you think spring break, you probably think of wild crowds of inhibited college kids blowing up steam and stress in the most regrettable ways possible. Maybe so, but it doesn’t have to be that way. For a week in spring, school is out for everyone and it can be a time for family-bonding and making memorable memories together.

Whether you are looking to take in warm weather while waiting for summer or enjoy the last winter days before spring takes over, here are 5 family-friendly spring break ideas everybody would love.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

We can’t stress enough how much of a dream destination the Dominican Republic can be. It is one of the most affordable shores in the Caribbean, already popular among spring breakers.

It is definitely a great place for a family-friendly spring break thanks to the kid-friendly resorts on the island. For instance, the Dreams Resort and Spa near Punta Cana offers a safe and fun environment with teen-oriented amenities and activities including sports events and a “teen disco” in the evening.

Orlando, Florida

Away from Panama City Beach and South Keys, Orlando stands out as a wonderland that will home any family-friendly spring break. Lose yourself in its many theme parks, from the Disney World to Legoland to Seaworld and much more.

You won’t be surprised to find just as many resorts as there are theme parks. Book a stay at a kid-friendly hotel with a lazy river so that the whole family can have a great time at the hotel. The Marriott Harbor Lake has a pirate ship complete with water slides and mini-golf courses.

Cruise to Alaska

Kids love nature and there’s not a doubt the whole family will appreciate Alaska’s great outdoors, its unspoiled landscapes, flourishing wildflowers, and wildlife.

The cruise there is just the icing on the cake since a cruise is an all-inclusive, hassle-free vacation of great value. This floating resort has everything you’d need for an awesome family-friendly spring break. These include the family dining, on-deck entertainment, onboard pool and spa services, and spacious cabins and suites.

Shenandoah, Virginia

With 100 miles of unmatched views on the Blue Ridge Mountains area, the Skyline Drive is one of the most scenic mountain drive in America. This road trip leads to the Shenandoah National Park, famous for its panoramic views, the Appalachian Trail and various endemic species.

The whole family will love to view its wildlife in their natural habitat. The park offers the opportunity to learn much about the cultural and geological history of the valley and the Virginia Piedmont. The best part is that there are many family-friendly lodging options within the park itself.

Steamboat Springs, Colorado

If you are not looking for a beach vacation, get away from the waters onto the ski slopes of Colorado. During spring break (i.e. March and April), you have to profit from the late-season price drop on lodging and passes.

Colorado ski slopes are legendary. Aspen might be the top dog in the area but the Steamboat ski resort is better suited for a family-friendly spring break. Why? First off, It has 165 ski trails served by 18 lifts, and offers 2,965 acres of prime skiing experience… even for beginners and the younger ones. Second, the resort caters to newlyweds and family groups. You will be sure to find other activities other than skiing, such as a hot balloon ride over the most breathtaking scenery.
