Since there are a lot of art galleries and museums in the country, students are exposed to them already. And these museums help a lot in refreshing their memories about the history of the country.

1. Metropolitan Museum of Art 

It is located in New York City and is the largest museum in the US. It was founded in 1870 and opened on February 20, 1872. Metropolitan Museum of Art or Met contains more than two million significant art collections which is divided into seventeen departments. The museum recommends an admission price of $25.

2. National Gallery of Art

The National Gallery of Art is located in Washington, D.C. It was privately established in 1937. The gallery’s collection is composed of paintings, drawings, photographs, medals, sculptures and other artworks. It is open to public and free of charge.

3. Museum of Modern Art

Museum of Modern Art or MoMA was established on November 7. 1929. It has been a very essential factor in developing modernist act. Its collection includes work of architecture and design, photography, prints, sculpture, paintings, illustrated books and electronic media. MoMA is often identified as the most influential museum of modern art in the world. Admission in the museum is $25 for adults, $18 for the seniors, $14 for students and free of charge for those members of the museum and for the 16  years of age and below.

4. De Young Museum

Also known as M. H. de Young Memorial Museum is located in San Francisco. It was named after a newspaperman, Michael de Young. The art museum was established on 1895. It showcases American art from the 17th century up to the 21st. Contemporary art, textiles and costumes complete the collection of this museum.

5. Art Institute of Chicago 

This encyclopedic art museum was founded on 1879. It is located in Chicago and it features Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art in its collection. Also known for one of the United States’ finest collection of paintings  from the Western culture.
